James Sivard is a music performer, composer and educator.

He received a BA in Music from Bard College and a Master's Degree in Audio and Video Production from American University through an academic scholarship.

He has won three fellowship awards from the DC Commission for the Arts
; his musical compositions have been aired on FM radio and can be heard on the internet and on commercial recordings.

In 1985 he formed a studio in Washington DC dedicated to private instrumental instruction. The studio was relocated to Leesburg, VA in 2005.

During his tenure at the International School of Music MD) he directed the jazz ensemble at the school. These students formed a diverse group ranging in age from 15 to 65.

He has led his own group in performances in New York City, Washington DC and Philadelphia, and has produced concerts for numerous venues and organizations such as Meet the Composer, the 9:30 Club, DC Space, Lettumplay Inc. and Dance Place.

As a private teacher Mr. Sivard places emphasis on musicality and technique. Each lesson also includes study of pieces selected by the students themselves.
