James Sivard Profile

 

James Sivard has played woodwind instruments from an early age. His education includes a BA in Music from Bard College and an MS in Audio Technology from American University.

His music instructors have included Buck Hill, Roswell Rudd, and Bill Wright (National Symphony).

Woodwind Studio was formed in Washington DC in 1982 and moved to Leesburg in 2005.

Mr. Sivard has worked in several musical genres and has led his own jazz group in performances in Washington DC, New York City and elsewhere.

He has produced concerts for organizations and venues such as Meet the Composer, The 9:30 Club, DC Space, Lettumplay Inc. and American University.

James has won three fellowship awards from the DC Commission for the Arts. His compositions and performances can be heard on the internet and on commercial recordings.

As a private teacher Mr. Sivard places emphasis on musicality and instrumental technique. Lessons include study of both etudes and performance pieces.
